Foosball Resurrection – October 29, 2022 – Three Boys Brewery, Christchurch
What a great day of Foosball in the Three Boys Brewery in Christchurch!
Over the course of the day, about 50 people joined the various social games. It was wonderful to see that players from across New Zealand came for the event.
In between games, we had time to share our stories. Interestingly, often foosball enthusiasts from overseas arrive in New Zealand and are desperately looking for places to play some foosball with others. New Zealand does not have a Foosball culture yet. We want to change that! The Foosball Resurrection event today won’t be the last event. There will be more and we keep you posted. Stay tuned!
A big shout out to the Three Boys Brewery management and staff to provide the space for us and the three foosball tables. And a big Thank You to the Pretzel Box staff: your Pretzels are delicious!
Fancy a game table soccer? If you are in Auckland, you can now play at Ellice Road Social Venue (57 Albert Street, Auckland CBD, Auckland 1010) on a professional foosball table sponsored by foosball table manufacturer Leonhart.
The foosball table arrived in Auckland in July 2021, but due to Lockdown and Alert Level 3 for much of the rest of 2021, the table was setup in early 2022.

Foosball table manufacturer Leonhart supplied two foosball tables for Foosball Christchurch (Chucky Prague) which were set up at the Port & Eagle Brewpub in Kaiapoi near Christchurch. We are looking forward to the tournaments Dunedin vs Christchurch!
Update (Feb. 2021): The foosball tables are no longer in Port & Eagle, and we are looking for a location to set them up in Christchurch.
Table soccer – also known as foosball – is popular in many parts of the world and its tables can be found in various places, such as bars, youth centers, schools and private homes. Foosball is not just a fun game, in some countries foosball is recognized as a professional sport with national leagues and national/international tournaments. Table soccer is not (yet) considered as an Olympic sport, but has already gained the observer status. To fulfill the requirements to become an Olympic sport, table soccer needs to be recognized as a professional sport in more countries, with many players and supporters around the world.
To help building a solid player base in New Zealand, Marcus Schulz, the Vice President of the German Table Soccer Federation (DTFB), and Christian Fiedler, the managing Director of the foosball table manufacturer Leonhart, had the crazy idea to ship several professional foosball tables from Germany to New Zealand.
We are happy to announce that four of these sponsored tables are now setup at the Unipol in Dunedin. Everybody is welcome to use them free of charge, and we provide free coaching every Tuesday and Friday evening.
The arrival of the first professional foosball tables in New Zealand is the foundation for a New Zealand wide Table Soccer community.
